Lunar Glare is a duo (originally from London).
Our songs cover a number of genres, including: lo-fi, psychedelic indie, folk, indie dance, and minimalist piano. However a certain atmosphere links our songs. Most of our tracks are related to mental health. Another central theme is the sea, and its relationship to the characters I write about. For example one song is about someone I knew who was sent to a coastal town in order to recover from a drug induced psychotic episode. Despite most of his friends abandoning him, he still remained positive about life and getting better. He used to use the sea as a metaphor for his recovery, and was keen for me to write a song about this.
Kiernan Doyle was formally in the experimental dance band Quad Throw Salchow. In Lunar Glare he plays the bass and rhythm guitar.
I (Simon White) used to work in mental-health (as a therapist). In Lunar Glare I play lead guitar, rhythm guitar, and keys. I also write the lyrics
Our influences include:
Nick Drake, The Black Ryder, Mogwai, Sparklehorse and Cat Power.
